Road Trip Day 2....Colorado Springs

Seven Falls last night was great. The kids would not climb the stairs with me. I tell you, it was a little scary coming down them. I had to hold on with both hands and just stop when someone was passing me the other direction.

Sleeping last night was AWFUL. Well Jordy slept okay. Steve and I did not, even with ear plugs. I can't wait to post a picture of the joke of "creekside camping". There was some commercial building across the creek with some kind of air compressor going all night long. Plus, we were on rocks to start with.

So, today got up and had egg sandwiches for breakfast, showered and broke down our camp. Threw fate to the wind regarding someplace to stay tonight.

We made the 8 o'clock Cog Railway train up Pikes Peak. It was so FUN! BEAUTIFUL. Last time I was up there in Aug 1989, it was sleeting, cloudy, and freezing. Today, perfect temperature about 60 degrees I would guess. Certainly did not need all the warm stuff we had on. There was not a cloud in the perfect sky until we were headed back down. We actually saw a lot of neat wildlife, some elks and some bighorn sheep. Hope my pictures are good.

So, from there, we just got on I-25 south towards Pueblo to hopefully find a REAL campground. Just by chance, stopped at the CO Springs South KOA and they had a tent site that had opened up. Not just any tent site, but a DELUXE tent site! Canopy hard top cover, level sand platform for the tent! Well, we are very happy to be here. We even have a plug in and water spicket at our tent site.

I AM TIRED. I am going on some kind of fuel, but I am not sure what it is. Is there such a thing as "mom fuel"????? I hope I sleep good tonight.
